Chronology
The UNIVAC 418-I was released in June 1963. The UNIVAC 418-II was released in November 1964. The UNIVAC 418-III was released in 1969. By 1990 all the 418 hardware was gone. (help us)

The name came from the UNIVAC 418-I's 4 microsecond memory cycle time and 18-bit word, however the UNIVAC 418-II reduced the memory cycle to 2 microseconds and the UNIVAC 418-III reduced it to 750 nanoseconds.(help us)
